Background Information

ACCUFAST CKx system

DESCRIPTION

The Component Kit is just what it sounds like. It is a group of components that together make up an ink jet printer. The only thing missing is the transport. You get:

1. Imager Bar Assembly which includes -

o Imager mounting bar with 1 or two imagers - you decide.
o Sensor Mounting assembly
o Mounting spacers

2. Encoder Assembly. Here you have the encoder and pulse wheel on a spring loaded bracket that will allow the wheel to run against the belt of the host machine as you choose to install it.

3. Control Box. Again bracketed for installation with sensor attached.

4. Wiring harnesses. 3 foot long sensor, encoder, communication cables to plug into control box and imager(s).

5. Software. Latest V1.32 software for V4 imagers from inc.jet.

ORDERING REQUIREMENTS

You need to determine the direction of paper travel. This helps us locate the sensor relative to the first imager. Also give us an idea of the operator location relative to the paper travel. You have skid plates that can be installed for either R. to L. or L. to R. paper travel.

You need to decide on the number of imagers that you want. If you decide on a single imager, you’ll not get an interface hub (contained in the box), and will not easily be able to add imagers in the future. We can put as many as 4 imagers on a single hub, so work with the client on this point. We’ll summarize price differences later. Two imagers automatically come with the hub. Here, again if you are adding to a two imager system you need another bar etc. but not another hub. Make this clear at order entry.

Measure the distance that you need the bar to bridge. Our system has a pair of mounting brackets fastened to the end of an imager bar. The bar bridges the printable area. If the Base that you’re mounting the kit on is 36 inches wide, and you need to span only 20, you can specify the length at 22 inches (20 plus an inch each for the mounting spacers). up to 34.” The spacers are 1” thick and can support product up to half an inch high. If your customer is running thicker materials, you need to specify what it is that is being run and we can make the appropriate spacers.

There are no other options.

INSTALLATION

To install the bar, you’ll need to drill 4 holes on the deck of the machine that you’re converting to a printer and tap them ¼ -20. Make sure that these holes are square to the transport belt. The best bet is to start with one, snug the imager bar to it, then use the remaining mounting holes on the mounting spacers as a template for the last three holes. We have a bit of play in the system, but very little.

Locate a place on the belt at the end of the machine and screw the encoder mounting bracket to the machine so that the encoder rides on the belt. The encoder needs to ride on the belt only, It shouldn’t touch paper.

Now, use the Wiring harness to locate the control box. This box connects the encoder, sensor, imagers and computer to each other. It also plugs into the wall. It is always best to use a surge protector and as clean a line as possible into the control box. Make sure that all wires reach in all imager positions.

Install the software in the host computer using the installation wizards and instructions that come with the unit.

Installation should take half a day if you’re careful, much longer than that if you aren’t. Software training and system set up and introduction takes a day. Figure on at least 1.5 days to install a Kit correctly.
